Mereden - Medical Research Data Encryption

In medical research, large quantities of data are collected and analyzed to improve patient care. For data management it is often necessary to include an identification of the patient. This identification is used to add follow up information and to integrate information from various sources such as different hospitals or departments. In order to protect the privacy of the individual patient, the true identity of a patient should not be stored in research databases. The TopSecret application encrypts the identification and thereby enables identification of patients while storing non-identifying information in the database for research.

Top Secret

TopSecret - Total Privacy by Selective EnCoding in Real Time

Securing web based data management systems by encrypting sensitive data items.

Today's databases contain more and more personal and sensitive information. Maintaining confidentiality is becoming an increasing concern especially for web based databases. TopSecret tackles this problem at the source. It can encrypt any data item in such a way that encryption and data storage are completely separated. The database and the database application work with encrypted data and the en/de-cryption is performed by an independent trusted third party (TTP)

Group permission

Decyption permission is personal and an encrypter can always decrypt his/her data. In addition the application allows group members to decrypt the information

Pseudo coding

There are situation when it is needed to check if data has been entered, without having the permission of decryption. This is done by pseudo coding. Pseudo coding creates a project specific encryption, which cannot be decrypted. This encrypted value however can be compared to stored values for example to find a matching record.
